Holy Fathers on Gratitude

Saint Gregory the Theologian

"Everything that is given by God must be received with thanksgiving."

Saint John Chrysostom

"Has something good happened? Bless God, and the good will remain. Has something bad happened? Bless God, and the bad will cease."

Saint Nicodemus the Holy Mountaineer

"How can you kindle in yourself a feeling of gratitude to God and always preserve it? Consider all of God's blessings to the human race and to yourself. Remember them more often. And if you have a heart, it will not be able to help but raise songs of gratitude to God. You will find examples in the prayers and writings of the saints."

Saint Nilus of Sinai

"He who gives thanks to God in time of temptation puts temptation to flight."

Saint Ignatius (Brianchaninov)

"Glory to God! Powerful words. During sorrowful circumstances, when thoughts of doubt, cowardice, discontent, and grumbling surround and encircle the heart, one must force oneself to repeat the words frequently, slowly, and attentively: glory to God!"

Reverend Peter Damascene

“To the extent that a person thanks God and strives out of love for Him, to that extent God draws near to him with His gifts and desires to give him rest.”

Saint Basil the Great

"Sow praise to God, so that you may reap crowns, honors and praises in the Kingdom of Heaven."

Saint Simeon the New Theologian

"Glory to God is in the love of His commandments and in keeping them. Every Christian who does not glorify God by fulfilling His commandments and keeping the commandments is worse than an infidel."

Saint Ephraim the Syrian

"Bring thanks, mortals, to the Son, who has delivered us from the slavery in which death held us for our sins. He forbade death, descended into hell, and brought the dead out of their graves. Who is able to repay Him for His goodness to our mortal race?"

Prayer to the Lord God works real miracles. It heals, it helps to get on the right path in life.

The Lord helps everyone:

“Turn back and I will hear you!” God commanded.

But we must not forget to thank the Lord for his help, turning to him with a prayer of thanksgiving!

That is why there is a THANKSGIVING PRAYER SERVICE.

You can thank God for everything you have by sending a Thanksgiving Service to the Holy Land [HERE] .
